Larry Rigdon, National Oilwell Varco Receives OSJ Awards

Larry Rigdon, chairman of the board at Jackson Offshore Holdings, received the Offshore Support Journal(OSJ)’s Lifetime Achievement Award at a gala evening event in London. He has served the offshore industry for 40 years providing strong leadership, guidance and experience to various vessel owners and operators. In a distinguished career he has run his own vessel owning business, Rigdon Offshore, and held senior posts at Zapata Gulf Marine, Tidewater and GulfMark Offshore. He has also served as a member of the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee to the US Coast Guard and on the board of directors of the National Ocean Industries Association.

Mr Rigdon said: “I am humbled by this award. It is about the great people surrounding myself with.” He included ship designers, chief financial officer, vessel builders and operators in that list. He is now assisting his son Matt Rigdon and long-term friend Lee Jackson in operating eight vessels in Jackson Offshore.

At the awards ceremony, which was held in association with Cummins, Esnaad chief executive Dagher Darwish Al Marar won the Industry Leader award, which was sponsored by Lloyd’s Register. This was for his leadership in driving forward a major fleet renewal and upgrade programme. Esnaad is part of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Co with one of the largest fleets in the Middle East.
