NOIA Welcomes Improvements to Offshore Oil and Gas Permit Review Process
Washington, D.C. – National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) President Randall Luthi today issued the following statement on changes implemented by BOEMRE to improve the efficiency of the offshore oil and gas permit review process:
“Today’s announcement is very welcome news because much of the permitting process has been confusing and frustrating to our members, particularly in the last year. This is a great example of what can happen when industry and the regulators communicate their frustrations and suggestions with one another. Our member companies will use this new guidance to make their applications as thorough as possible, and we also stand ready to assist in making additional suggestions for further streamlining and improvements, if needed.”
NOIA is the only national trade association representing all segments of the offshore industry with an interest in the safe exploration and production of both traditional and renewable energy resources on the nation’s outer continental shelf. The NOIA membership comprises more than 270 companies engaged in business activities ranging from producing to drilling, engineering to marine and air transport, offshore construction to equipment manufacture and supply, telecommunications to finance and insurance.
