NOIA Supports House Action on Increased Access to Offshore Energy
Washington, D.C. – NOIA President Randall Luthi today issued the following statement:
“NOIA is strongly supportive of the efforts of Chairman Hastings and the members of the House Natural Resources Committee in taking action to develop our offshore energy resources. As we have stated repeatedly, oil and natural gas development offshore brings new jobs, new energy, and new revenues – all of which represent a big win for the country. Given the lack of new access in the Five Year Leasing Plan for 2012-2017 presently being proposed by the Administration, we anticipate that Congressional efforts will have to be the driver if we are to finally unlock the real economic potential of new offshore areas, such as Virginia.”
NOIA is the only national trade association representing all segments of the offshore industry with an interest in the exploration and production of both traditional and renewable energy resources on the nation’s outer continental shelf. NOIA’s mission is to secure reliable access and a fair regulatory and economic environment for the companies that develop the nation’s valuable offshore energy resources in an environmentally responsible manner. The NOIA membership comprises more than 270 companies engaged in business activities ranging from producing to drilling, engineering to marine and air transport, offshore construction to equipment manufacture and supply, telecommunications to finance and insurance, and renewable energy.
