SUMMARY:Reuters: Future of Oil & Gas 2021
DESCRIPTION:2021 & Beyond: More Energy\, Less Carbon\nIn a pre-pandemic world\, upstream O&G’s short and long-term futures were largely synonymous; with the former simply informing the latter. Now\, with supermajor E&Ps shifting course into a net zero future\, there is major disparity in what the next few years hold for the industry compared with the next few decades. \nThis discord is based on a dual challenge that the entire industry must face: How do we meet growing global energy demand and simultaneously reduce carbon emissions in the hope for a more sustainable future? \nIn 2021 alone the IEA expects: \n\nGlobal energy demand to increase by 4.6%.\nCarbon emissions to jump by 1.5 billion metric tons\n\nFuture of Oil & Gas 2021 offers a full spectrum of responses to this challenge from supermajor operators to independents; from oilfield service companies to global tech providers; from consultants to governors. \nFOG21 provides the opportunity to piece together your own picture of impending marketing trends and drivers and expose oil and gas’ true potential.

SUMMARY:2021 Offshore Wind Executive Summit
DESCRIPTION:Bringing together decision makers from wind and offshore oil and gas\, the Offshore Wind Executive Summit addresses the technological\, commercial\, and regulatory challenges of offshore wind development. Wind developers have been leveraging oil and gas technology and services\, from fixed and floating foundation design\, construction\, and installation\, to facility operations and maintenance\, to enable project development. However\, more collaboration is needed to advance the US market. \nThe Offshore Wind Executive Summit provides the forum to establish new business relationships among the wind and oil and gas industry professionals. As an added bonus\, as of 2020\, the event is now co-located with the Deepwater Operations and Topsides\, Platforms & Hulls Conference and Exhibition\, visit www.offshore-event.com for more information on that conference. \n The 2021 Offshore Wind Executive Summit will be a held as a live\, in-person conference in Galveston\, Texas on October 5\, 2021 at the Moody Gardens Hotel & Convention Center \nVisit the conference website to view the full conference program: www.offshorewindsummit.com and to register\, please click here.

SUMMARY:NOIA ESG Webinar: Repurposing Offshore Oil and Gas Facilities for Alternative Uses\, Including Zero and Low Carbon Solutions
DESCRIPTION:With the new administration's announcement of 30 GW of offshore wind power by 2030 (a moon-shot effort)\, it's aggressive climate goals\, and BOEM's recent Request for Interest (RFI) in Commercial Leasing for Wind Power Development on the Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf (GOM OCS)\, the potential for re-purposing some of the GOM infrastructure has gained momentum.  At the same time\, with 1688 platforms remaining in the GOM and 318 of those platforms on expired oil and gas leases\, BSEE is turning up the pressure on both current platform owners and their predecessors to take action. \nWhen Congress passed the Energy Policy Act of 2005\, they seemingly foresaw this conundrum and included Section 388 to instruct the Secretary of Interior to allow the GOM infrastructure to be used "for energy-related purposes or for other authorized marine-related purposes".  BOEM's predecessor (MMS) prepared a Programmatic EIS in 2007\, and BOEM promulgated regulations at 30 CFR 585 Subpart J in 2012.  The Gulf Offshore Research Institute (GORI) has been researching the feasibility and process for re-purposing the end-of-life infrastructure.  Kent Satterlee\, Executive Director of GORI\, will share some of the work GORI has undertaken to determine both the ecological and beneficial uses of the infrastructure and what opportunities exist for platform and pipeline owner/operators. \nRegister Now

SUMMARY:Offshore Wind Skills Academy: Project Development from A to Z
DESCRIPTION:The University of Delaware and the Danish Energy and Climate Academy (ECA) have jointly created an Offshore Wind Skills Academy (OWSA). \nOWSA is holding a virtual classroom next month on offshore wind project development\, including sessions on development permitting\, vessels\, supply chain\, deployment\, operations and maintenance\, and decommissioning—the same material as their successful in-person instruction at substantially lower cost. The OWSA Instructors are experienced wind industry professionals from Denmark and the United States who have bid and built projects and developed the industry. This may be useful to NOIA member companies for providing services to the growing US offshore wind industry. \nProject Development from A to Z\nDates: June 7-11\, 2021\nCost: $1\,800 \nThere are still a limited number of support scholarships available. Please contact Rebecca Cox\, Program Administrator\, University of Delaware Center for Research in Wind\, at rlcox@nulludel.edu for more information.

SUMMARY:NOIA Webinar: Ransom Response & Best Practices
DESCRIPTION:Ransomware attacks are highly disruptive\, involve multi-million dollar ransoms\, and handling these attacks requires very different skills from traditional breach response.  Dealing with ransomware threat actors involves direct negotiation with these groups\, and critical decisions on whether to pay the ransom\, negotiating the lowest possible ransom and preparing the organization for the possible consequences of non-payment\, public disclosure etc.\, as well as developing and implementing a post-breach plan. \nBooz Allen's Incident Response leader Jerry Bessette\, leveraging his 24-years of FBI experience\, has led numerous clients through complex ransom negotiations to achieve the best possible outcomes.  Booz Allen is committed to its client's success and we look forward to sharing with the NOIA membership the lessons learned and keys to successful outcomes when dealing with Ransomware Threat Actors.
