Washington, DC — National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) President Erik Milito issued the following statement following President Trump’s executive order directing the Department of the Interior to establish a Federal Outer Continental Shelf Reef-in-Place Program for decommissioned offshore oil and gas infrastructure:
The Gulf of America provides tremendous public benefits through American energy production, and those benefits can continue long after production ends. As we look to continued offshore production in the Gulf, we appreciate President Trump for recognizing the success of Rigs-to-Reefs and creating a clearer pathway to preserve valuable marine habitat for fisheries, recreation and coastal communities.
