EnVen Energy Corporation Wins 2018 NOIA Culture of Safety Award
Washington, D.C. - The National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) presented EnVen Energy Corporation with the 2018 NOIA Safety in Seas (SIS) Culture of Safety Award today during the association’s annual meeting in Washington, DC.  EnVen Energy won the Culture of Safety Award in recognition of its remarkable safety culture transformation between 2013 and 2017.  David Carmony, Chief Operations Officer for EnVen Energy accepted the award.“EnVen is honored to receive this prestigious safety award from NOIA,” said Carmony.  “The transformation of EnVen’s safety culture has allowed us to achieve our goals, grow our company and safely increase our production base and reserves. EnVen’s path to improvement was the result of self-analysis, recognizing what needed to change and where we wanted to be as a company.  I am extremely proud of the team we have built and the accomplishments we’ve attained in the process of transforming our safety culture.”

EnVen’s integrated approach to cultural transformation included improvements in communication, training, job safety analyses, safety and compliance audits, and incident investigation management.  As a result of these improvements, Enven’s Total Recordable Incident Rate has seen a 75% improvement.

NOIA President Randall Luthi congratulated EnVen saying, “Safety culture doesn’t happen in a day.  It requires long-term commitment and review.  A viable safety culture is not achieved by writing safety platitudes that are stored unopened on the shelf.  It is a habit that is constantly evaluated and adapted to meet changing safety challenges and requirements.  EnVen exemplifies the transformative nature of safety culture offshore.”

Enven’s award-winning entry was evaluated by an independent panel of judges from the U.S. Coast Guard, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, the National Academies Transportation Research Board, and an industry safety consultant.  Bristow Group, Oceaneering International and Schlumberger Oilfield Services were also nominated for the 2017 Culture of Safety Award.

NOIA has held the SIS awards competition since 1978 to recognize those who contribute to improving the safety of life in the offshore energy industry.  The awards are sponsored by Compass Publications, Inc.
