Mike Olsen is Senior Director, Government Affairs in Statoil’s Washington, D.C. office, where his focus is on legislative, regulatory, and policy issues that impact the company’s activities in the U.S.  He was previously Senior Counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of Bracewell & Giuliani, a Houston-based law firm.  Before joining Bracewell, Mike served for almost six years in the Bush Administration at the U.S. Department of the Interior, most recently as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management.  In that capacity he oversaw a wide range of energy and environmental issues, including the development of both conventional and renewable energy on the OCS nationwide, and energy development on public land in Alaska.

Before working at the Interior Department, Mike was Legislative Staff and Director of the Office of Native American and Insular Affairs for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Resources.  Prior to his government service, Mike was an attorney in private practice in Washington, D.C.  He received his law and bachelor’s degrees from Brigham Young University.
