NOIA Applauds Research on Strengthening Shallow Water Production
Washington, D.C. – National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) President Erik G. Milito issued the following statement after the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) released a report on energy production in the Shallow Water Gulf of Mexico:
“NOIA applauds the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) for researching and exploring options for promoting energy production in the U.S offshore. The Federal government should be an advocate for American-produced energy, as the far-too-common alternative is the outsourcing of energy production to foreign governments that do not share American values. Offshore oil and gas production will remain a global growth area for decades to come, and we should embrace policies that ensure U.S. offshore production remains a vital source of the energy that builds our modern lives.”
NOIA is the only national trade association representing all segments of the offshore industry with an interest in the exploration and production of both traditional and renewable energy resources on the nation’s outer continental shelf. NOIA’s mission is to secure reliable access and a fair regulatory and economic environment for the companies that develop the nation’s valuable offshore energy resources in an environmentally responsible manner.
