Transocean is a leader in rig-based well construction services. With a fleet of 49 mobile offshore drilling units, consisting of 28 ultra-deepwater, 14 harsh environment and three midwater floaters, Transocean operates the highest specification floating offshore drilling fleet in the world with a particular focus on ultra-deepwater and harsh environments. The Company also is constructing four ultra-deepwater drillships, including the first ultra-deepwater drillship rated for 20,000 psi operations, the Deepwater Titan.
Transocean can trace its roots to the 1920’s and to the draftsman and landman T.S. “Stoney” Stoneman. He purchased the first drilling rig for the Danciger Oil & Refining Company and played key leadership roles in pioneering offshore drilling with The Offshore Company. Over the next few decades, Transocean’s legacy companies, including Sedco Forex, Global Marine and Santa Fe, built lasting legacies rooted in innovation and technology, resulting in many industry firsts. Fast-forward to the 1990s and The Offshore Company, which became Sonat Offshore Drilling, Inc., purchased Transocean ASA. Transocean Offshore Deepwater Drilling, Inc. was born.
To succeed in technically challenging environments, Transocean focuses its efforts toward actively aligning with the company’s customers in the delivery of their business objectives; consistently delivering the industry's safest and most efficient offshore well solutions; continuously optimizing processes; and attracting, developing and retaining an industry-leading workforce while operating, maintaining, upgrading and renewing the industry’s most efficient fleet of offshore floating rigs.
