NOIA President Randall Luthi Comments on Nomination of Sally Jewell as Next Interior Secretary
Washington, D.C. – National Ocean Industries Association President Randall Luthi today issued the following statement on the nomination of Sally Jewell for Secretary of the Interior:
“The nomination of Sally Jewell to be the next Secretary of the Interior is bit of a surprise and will likely be met with a cautious wait-and-see approach by the offshore energy industry. We look forward to hearing about her energy vision for America during the confirmation process. We hope that her business and engineering experience will lead her to recognize the critical importance of our Nation’s offshore energy resources. NOIA’s members stand ready to work with her in promoting additional access to oil, natural gas, wind, wave and current energy resources on the outer continental shelf and the benefits safe development of these resources bring, including increased jobs, energy security and energy reliability. ”
NOIA is the only national trade association representing all segments of the offshore industry with an interest in the exploration and production of both traditional and renewable energy resources on the nation’s outer continental shelf. NOIA’s mission is to secure reliable access and a fair regulatory and economic environment for the companies that develop the nation’s valuable offshore energy resources in an environmentally responsible manner. The NOIA membership comprises more than 275 companies engaged in business activities ranging from producing to drilling, engineering to marine and air transport, offshore construction to equipment manufacture and supply, telecommunications to finance and insurance, and renewable energy.
