Senate Energy & Natural Resources Build Back Better Text Supports Low Carbon American Energy

Washington, D.C. – National Ocean Industries Association President Erik Milito issued the following statement after the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources released its final version of its budget reconciliation text late Friday afternoon:

“While we are still reviewing the text, we appreciate Senator Manchin and the Energy & Natural Resources Committee’s efforts on the Build Back Better Act’s energy language. The Build Back Better Act should support offshore wind and carbon capture and storage policies, while also avoiding punitive provisions that price out – and lock out – American offshore oil and gas production. The latest text makes important improvements for promoting climate solutions and for eliminating adverse provisions that would have served to damage investment in U.S. energy projects, reduce employment, and harm our energy and national security.

“We look forward to continuing to work with Congress to ensure U.S. energy policy promotes affordable, reliable energy for all Americans, while continuously reducing emissions. It is critical to get this right for the sake of a 21st Century energy economy.”
