Tidewater owns and operates one of the largest fleets of OSVs (Offshore Support Vessels) in the industry, with over 60 years of experience supporting offshore energy exploration and production activities worldwide. Tidewater created the “work boat” industry when it launched the Ebb Tide in 1956, the world’s first offshore vessel tailor-made to support the offshore oil and gas industry. Since that launch, Tidewater has grown into the leading and most experienced provider OSVs in the global energy industry.
As the oil and gas business expanded beyond the Gulf of Mexico, Tidewater followed, initially in Venezuela in 1958 where it maintained a presence for more than 50 years, followed quickly by expansion into a variety of additional international waters. In the 1960s, Tidewater’s international presence expanded to the waters off Central America, West Africa and Australia. Today, Tidewater’s boats are on the job in various international waters and the company is well-prepared to deploy vessels and services wherever the oil and gas industry extends its search for new hydrocarbon resources.
Today, Tidewater has a global footprint – 90% of its fleet works internationally in more than 60 countries. Around the world, Tidewater can transport crews and supplies, tow and anchor mobile rigs, assist in offshore construction projects and perform a variety of specialized support services at a moment’s notice.
Tidewater’s fleet includes platform supply vessels, anchor handling towing supply vessels, offshore tugs, subsea vessels, specialty vessels and crewboats/FSVs. This means that along with providing conventional services, such as well stimulation, seismic support, construction support and anchor handling, Tidewater also provides services in harsh environments, such as Greenland, the North Sea, the Barents Sea and Canada. Harsh environment services include vessels compliant with the polar code, oil recovery operations, standby rescue operations, supply duties, and officers and crew specially trained for harsh environment operations.
Safe operations are a top priority for Tidewater. The company maintains effective accident prevention programs and systems and complies with applicable national and international rules and regulations. Likewise Tidewaters’ environmental stewardship is world class, and a company objective is to prevent pollution in operations. Tidewater is a leader in having a low total recordable incident rate.
