NOIA Statement on Offshore Safety Meeting Between Regulators and Industry

Washington, DC – Today, NOIA President Randall Luthi participated in a meeting of Interior Department officials and senior oil and gas industry executives to discuss improving safety in offshore operations.  Following the meeting, he issued this statement:

“Industry appreciated and enjoyed the opportunity to meet with Secretary Jewell and the directors of BSEE and BOEM today to discuss offshore safety.  What is clear is that when it comes to offshore operations, safety is safety, whether on the shelf or in deepwater.  Today’s meeting was a good starting point for continued discussions between industry and regulators of what can be done moving forward to further minimize risks and prevent future incidents.”
