Updated Offshore Air Quality Rule Supports Environmental Protection, Energy Production

Washington, D.C. – National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) President Erik G. Milito issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of the Interior released updated Offshore Air Quality Rule regulations:

“Since the last update to the offshore air quality rule, the offshore operating environment has changed dramatically, serving to protect coastal air quality. Continuous advancements in technology by the industry have resulted in greater operational efficiencies and corresponding emissions reductions. Interior’s update of the rule is the necessary modernization of an important regulation.

“U.S. offshore oil and natural gas is produced in a way that reflects our commitment to a healthy environment. This smart update to the offshore air quality rule will support continued U.S. offshore energy production and environmental stewardship.”
